From Kryptic Kralo:
Money will always be a driving factor in game development. Whether it's daydreamers hoping to make the "next big thing" and retire early, or people just struggling to pay their bills, money is the heartbeat of the gaming industry. For better or worse.
However, I currently work a full-time job that covers all my expenses AND offers me ample time to work on my projects. As a result I've opted to disable all forms of financial donations. All my projects are not guarenteed to meet their full potential since this is only a hobby that I balance with my life and job, and that uncertainty makes it unfair to ask for donations without any guarantee that the person spending their hard earned money will see any return on their faith and investment placed in me. I MAY eventually sell merchandise of Kryptic Studios if there's enough want for it in the future, that way people will at least get an immediate return on their purchase.
If I make enough progress and enough interest is shown in a specific project, I might change this stance to raise money and hire professionals to assist me in making said project the best it can be. However UNTIL that point is reached, throwing money into the mix when I'm already financially stable only throws a pointless cog into the machine that adds another layer of complexity to my already complex system.
